At work I sit next to a colleague who regularly listens to music using headphones, as I do.
When he does this, he often is tapping his foot on the floor or his fingers on his desk, not realizing the distraction it can be to other people.
In the beginning this would annoy me and I would put on my headphones to escape it. Later I decided it was part of accepting What Is and that the annoyance is only created by the resistance in me. Now I’m using the sound as an anchor to stay present. If I hear it, I know I’m aware.
