WordPress is a content management system to maintain websites with, like this one. It’s a fairly easy product to work with and it has some simple functions that will make your website look more appealing. I will try to post some tips here now and then.
The first tip is about embedding a url. A url is a link to a website. An embedded url is a link that is opened when an image or text is clicked. When you want to refer to some webpage you can of course just past the full path as text in your article, like this:
Hi Guys, I found this site with really good ambiant/meditation music, check it out: https://whaleloryb.bandcamp.com/
While this does not look band and it works, if the link gets very long it will look less than attractive.
The alternative is to choose a word in the sentence and make it a link. In this example, I’m going to make the word ‘here’ a link to the site , like this:
Hi Guys, I found this site with really good ambiant/meditation music, check it out here.
Now the word ‘here’ has become a link and the user can click on it to open the site.
You can do this as follows:
(the screenshots may look slightly different on your system if you’re not running the same version as I am.)
Select the word that you want to turn into a link:
Select the word as above and click on the button that looks like a chain link. You will get this pop-up:
In the text box, type or paste the link. If you want the linked webpage to open in a new tab (I suggest to do that) then enable ‘Open in new tab’. Finally, click the arrow to save your change.
Congrats! You’ve just embedded a hyperlink in text 😎
